I really thought I would love this book. It had a lot of good reviews, it was set in the world of academia, and had characters who loved to read. What more could I ask for? I started this book in the beginning of May and it took me a whole month just to complete it. There was nothing that kept me glued to the book. I don’t know why I didn’t absolutely love the book. Maybe it was because as an only child I could not relate the problems that the sisters had with their place in the family and society. I also had a hard time with the first person plural narrative voice that the author used. I can’t say that I’m really a fan of this type of narrative. Also, this is more of a character driven story, and I think I lean more towards plot driven stories. In spite of all this, I can see that the author is really talented and I will definitely check out more of her work in the future.
